| I left work last night and as I went to pull away I suddenly lost some of my power steering and it started to vibrate in my hand. When I went to put my foot on the brake to stop the truck. I got a vibrating kind of pulsating in the brake peddle. I stopped the engine and checked the Power steering fluid. It was a lil low. I limped it home with limited braking power. I topped up the power steering fluid. Still same symptoms. Is this a power assist issue? Is that same power assist related to both the PS and PBs? Any ideas what I broke? | |

| It happened in my 07 Silverado I was doing some searching on the Diesel Place, And I've come to the conclusion I think it's my Hydro Boost, or a sticky High pressure release valve. But I'm leaning more towards a bad Hydroboost. | |

| but then I can still hear a vibration and buzzing noise when I turn and use the brakes. That would tell me that's my Hydroboost is trying to work... So maybe it is a sticky re-leaf valve | |

| You most likely lost one of your hydroboost lines. On my truck, the main line (3/4 inch rubber line) running from just below the brake master cylinder to the pump on the engine cracked and was leaking. Caused the same symptoms your describing now. | |

| Look for fluid around the engine and/or in your wheel well. When mine went, it leaked onto the inside of the tire and caused an awful mess.
The part itself (IIRC) was only $50, but putting it in is a real PITA.

| You said the level was a little low and you topped off the fluid, did it go down again after driving it? If so, you definately have a leak, even if its a hard one to find. | |

| After I topped up the PS fluid the level stayed the same. Full... A full turn to the L and a full turn to the R. Stayed full. But I think it's the unforgiving chevy power steering pump that is my problem. Not like Volvo and Chrysler were your pump runs dry, you just top it up and your on your way. Chevy, you run your pump dry and your out shopping for a new pump the next day. Me and the diesel noise and my loud music, I think I missed the signs. But I think I'm gonna play the difficult customer card, and go back to the Chev dealership and raise a stink. I went in for an oil change, and came out with $1500 worth of additional work why did my truck get returned to me with an empty power steering pump? | |

| Squeaky Wheel Gets The Grease.. Well I did it.. I got a free Power Steering Pump out of the deal. My Rant payed off. I pay the labor which is 2.4 hrs at $86 an hr and they pay for the $635 pump + fluid I'm OK with that. | |

| Yap. Problem fixed. But I just noticed tonite I was backing a trailer into my driveway and I noticed I can't turn my wheels while I'm sitting still. The truck either has to be rolling or I have to raise the rpm just a bit to turn. This new pump hasn't got the grunt that the old pump did. | |

| Thanks Rob I'll take that as a compliment What do you suggest I do. I'm still not pleased with my PS, what with it giving me greaf as I back up trailers. I really don't like being that pain in the butt customer. | |

| Sometimes brother, you need to be THAT pain in the butt customer. The dealer is in the business to make money, not to be fair. | |

| Update on the on going saga of the difficult power steering. and the on going fight to keep the repairs free.
I picked the truck up yesterday (Wed 13 Oct) Nothing done to it Oh ya I had the brake system flushed but they didn't bill me for it, well not yet anyways. But the tech said my PS Box is now screwed. Apparently it is causing my pump to serge. As for the originally: loss of PS at idle ie: backing a trailer. He says to pump is making good presser at idle. Truck goes back Fri for a new $900 PS Box no charge.
Stay tuned for more updates. I should ad this to my List of I HATE IT WHEN i have no truck

| Is this a used car dealer or an actual Chevy Dealership? If so, I'd complain to GM corporate, thats just rediculous. | |
