| Seeing how my 460 gets 10 MPG, 18 for a 454 is pretty darn good. | |

| your car also weighs a lot more than joe's truck.. so does mine, but i'll be pushing a whole lot more tire than joe so mine will suck more gas.. yours is mostly the carb.. you ought to look into an edelbrock carb for your car | |

| no matter what you guys say, diesels get waaaaaaay better mileage than a gas motor (if both vehicles are the same make and model). my dad bought a brand new 2004 ford excursion in '04 with the 6.8L Triton V10. power was not a problem, that thing hauled butt, but the day he bought it he was already searching for an excursion with a 6.0 turbo diesel becuz he got 9 mpg highway, less in the city. since then, he bought his '03 excursion turbo diesel getting now 14 mpg city, around 19-21 on the highway | |

| yeah, excursions suck gas like crazy because of their massive weight and the way they tune the motors.. the diesel version gets better mpg because of the turbo and the fact that the diesel makes more torque with less effort | |

Plus Diesel has more BTUs per gallon, is more thermally and volumentrically efficent, makes it torque MUCH lower down on the RPM band, etc... etc.... etc..... | |
