| Is their any reason why I couldnt swap in an F150 TTB axle in place of my current TIB? If I could use the F150s TTB then it would allow me to retain my coil spring suspension and simplify things A LOT. I could just swap the hubs to 8 lug right? The 87 F150 i want to use should be a D44, which is not a whole lot different than the D44HD that came in F250s stock. Im not looking to do any hardcore offroading or huge tires. Maybe slightly oversized tires and some occasional playing in the mud. Whattya think fellas? | |

| No Idea. I've never seen it done. Plus I'm not much of a ford guy. But Hey !!! Anythings possible with a ton of persuasion and a truck load of ambition, and maybe a lil bit of know how. | |

| I wouldn't. But that is just me. I have seen/heard of too many stupid issues with those axles with movements and joints. It seems like a good idea, and I can see why Ford liked them, but I am personally NOT a fan. Using a straight axle will keep things simple, as well as last longer with a lot less parts to break. Besides, the TTB out of the half ton, is barely rated for the size of that truck. Putting it under a 3/4 ton, and I can see it failing. Anyways, those are just my thoughts, but I am more keen on the straight axles anyways, so call me biast.... LMAO | |

| I dont have money for a D60, or i would go that route.....
BTW, the D44 TTB thats under the F150 is the same as the D44 TTB that came under regular cab F250s......
Extended cabs came with the slightly heavier D50 TTB
F350s came stock with a D60

| I can appreciate and understand budget constraints. And thought I am sure it will work, I just wanted to voice my opinon and say that if it were me, I would wait and wither find an older rebuilt D44 straight axle, or a D60.... I mean if you are going to do it, why not just do it?! Know what i mean? anyways, that was all I was trying to say. | |

| IF this is going in the truck that has the diesel, I would definitely not go that route..... there is a reason that ford never used that suspension under the hd trucks.... I have seen alot of those front axles fail with just the weight of a 460 bb, and 33 inch tires, being used only on the highway/main street. I would save up the money to get a d60 for the front, a good set of tires, and then make the 4x4 guys shut it....... instead of doing this swap. but that's me. | |

Yea this is for my diesel.. F250 diesels had TTBs stock, BUT they were leaf sprung and not coil sprung....

| I assume we are talking older models right? Because my F250 was a straight Dana 60, not TTB. And no worries mate. I was just expressing that if you find that you want to change it, I would change it for the better, not a lateral move. | |

| NO WAY
I have dana 50 on my 95 F250 reg cab. They are bitchy to alignment.
If I were you I go with solid axle.

| John if your gonna swap then definalty go with a solid axle. No money to buy a axle? Tell ya what... Head south to saginaw hit 75 north to grayling swing a left on 72 til you get to traverse city. Then make your way to my house I have a ford hp44 coil sprung axle from a E250 or E350 4x4 van. Sell it to you real cheap! Throw some 8 lug outters on it and your good to go. | |

| well swapping over to leafs would be alittle monkeying around but depending on how your coils are designed it could be a possible bolt up swap. Take a pic of your coil to axle connection post it and I'll tell you what you need to do. then you'd have to get a 4x4 trans and case a driveshaft. | |
