| Ive been contemplating parking the truck up for a while. That way I can fix up the body right instead of my redneck rick bondo job I have right now lol. Do my 5 spd and 4wd swap at that time too. Probly stick a turbo on her. Some new paint and do up my exhaust. Maybe a flatbed, maybe a stock box. Probly get a ranger or s10 or something to ride around for the time being. Basically just want to fix my truck up some and build it up just the way I want it. What you guys think? I could probly squeeze a few more years out of it before the body rust becomes too much of a safety issue. Keep in mine I got college this fall. I will say this, it has been stone reliable and has been getting a pretty consistent 21 mpg lately. Ive also done a lot of maintenence on it over the last year. New starter, couple new gps, new brakes all around, new tires on back, new fuel filter, oil changed (bout time to change it agian), flushed the cooling system, other stuff I cant remember lol. | |

| if it were me i would just start with a different platform.. i have seen your body style done up and there isnt much out there for them.. for what your gonna sink into buying a running truck to beat around in your could buy a none running older or newer truck and have a better platform to start with.. when you start having problems with suspension parts rusting through the frame is pretty much to far gone.. | |

| the frame on this truck is as solid as the day it rolled off the assembly line. The front end is pristine from having been coated with oil for 17 years lol. The reason the hanger busted was because of the design of it. Its like its made to collect dirt and salt and other crap. | |

| Id have to second that. The body is to far gone and your gonna put a 5 spd and 4x4 under it would it be cheaper jus to find a truck. I know its your 1st truck but still | |

| well its not so much that its my first truck, its more that it was my gpas truck for about 10 years before I got it, and I have a lot of memories in it. Its put in alot of hard days and deserves to be fixed up. Sometimes ya just gotta look away from the money side of things. | |

| y not? I have had a few people suggest getting a 4x4 truck and putting my motor into it. I dont really wanna do that, cus all the 4x4s around here are all beat to hell and rusted worse than mine..... | |

take the lights off the cab, put the stock bumper back on, change the blue all to the same shade, and add some rust holes and mine would be the same as gpa had it lol

| If you intend to follow through with the restore then you'll need to park it to be able to complete all the work. Ask yourself an honest question, can you realistically afford to get it done before college starts? | |

| If I were you I would do it. Find something you enjoy driving until the truck is done and bear in mind that it is a long process but it will pay off in the end. | |

| yeah if your gonna be going to college i wouldnt be driving something that had sentimental value to you... alot can and does happen at college.. lol.. drunk frat kids going around damaging other peoples cars to just random bumps and dings.. plus you dont really need anything to interfear with your school work.. if something isnt going right with the build then its gonna totally take your mind off school.. | |

No, you didnt, but I can tell you from experience, when you go to school, your money goes to school. I know more people then I care too who went to school while they had a project going and none of them finished, and for the same reason. Money.

Dang carpet was wet underneath, but hey what can ya expect when theirs a hole in the floor lol. Oh well, nothin some sheetmetal and creative welding cant fix.
