PostSubject: Tailgate latch   Tailgate latch EmptyMay 17th 2010, 9:53 pm

the handle to open my tailgate is broke and I need ideas on how to fix it. It looks like some kind of cast aluminum which I can only imagine how hard that would be to weld, but its worth a try I suppose. Any ideas on how to fix it?

new handle.. it's not worth welding.. they're junk cast aluminum and it'll just break again

yeah... if you havent figured it out already its gonna be a pain to open but it can be done.. i would just go to the yard and get another or make your own setup by attaching bike brake cables to the latches and then drill a hole in the inside center of the tailgate so you can just reach over and pull them.. beats tryin to adjust a beat up tailgate latch.. lol

it won't hold long.. it's not meant for that kind of abuse.. you'd be far better off going to the junkyard, spending 5 bucks and getting 1 that's still in 1 piece
