| Most speed shops sell cheap crate motors but they're bare bones. Still, i'd check out summitracing, jegs, or paceperformance. Each sells different spec'd crate engines for under $1500. | |

| www.paceperformance.comIts really just a matter of cash, how much do you want to spend? lol. You can easily blow $15K on a motor alone. | |

| OR !!! You can check your local CraigsList and get a cheap doner truck for under $1000 and you can listen to it run before you buy. Just an idea. | |

| for 1000 bucks i could get a low milage ls7 vette motor with the wireharness and ecu.. then its just a matter of turning it into a stand alone setup and you would have 400 hp and get good gas milage.. i love fuel injection motors because i hate messing with carbs and timing anymore.. soon as money allows im throwing one in the 85 c10 i have.. but im gonna throw in an ls4 hotcam and heads to make 600 hp and then a 300 shot of no2.. lol | |

| Wait a second... The LS7 is rated at 505HP..... and the LS4 is a 5.3L.... so why would you.... ? | |

| ls4 has better flowing heads and adds a little more compression and the cam isnt the stock ls4 cam. its just the name of it.. they both share the same cam from the factory.. its the bottom end, heads and intake that are different.. | |

| That cant be right, the LS4 is a 303HP 5.3L used in the GM FWD W-body. The LS7 is a 505HP 7.0L used in the Corvette, they do share some components, but not many. | |

| They're all LSX engines, so they all share some parts, except the LS4 and LS7. Those two have very specific components. | |

| yeah i had my engines confused.. the one i put together for the 99 firebird is an ls1 with ls6 heads and intake.. i didnt get the parts i just built the motor from what my buddy had gathered.. its got stock length rods and crank with different pistons.. its got a bbk 80mm throttle body, thunder racing mass air sensor, slp intake and headers, 4.11 gears in the rear and as soon as we get the beefed up tranny in it it should dyno around 750 hp.. im doing a rough tune to get it running right and then we are gonna take it to his cousins shop in allentown to get it dyno tuned.. he wants to be able to hit low 9s high 8s but i think its gonna be a little faster then that with the no2.. should be a fun budget build.. he only has 6k in the whole car including the cost of the car itself.. | |

| the 4.3 had a pretty long run in them trucks.. 89-96 will work i beleive.. you could always upgrade to a 5.7 liter.. all you need is the motor and ecu.. wiring is the same for the 4.3 and 5.7 | |

| 5.7Ls is just the displacement. At one time all of the big 3 made/make a 5.7L V8. | |
