| I really hate getting myself into a situation were I end up having to call a tow truck. I've got my 57 chev in storage and my chassis for it here in the garage. And none of them tow very well. So a have them floated by a local tow company. My son and my daughter's husband race cars in our local car club. The winter racing cars are not street legal. my wife and I worry about them towing their race cars down to southern Ontario in the winter. Well I'm convince... Don't know about you guys. But I'm a lil excited about my purchase. How'd I do on justifying it ?? Also too... I can help out friends and relatives when ever possible.

| It's got the 8.2L Detroit Turbo Diesel in it and it has the 5 speed with the split rear axle. = 10 spd
The brakes are hydraulic assist and the PTO needs repair or possibly replaced but then my Mack has a perfectly good PTO on it.
This truck just had all the rubber replaced and the brakes and drums done. The guy lost interest and found another project, I luv it when that happens

That 8.2L has been used in a number of different applications, including farm tractors, and other then the notorious pan gasket leak is a solid unit. Good luck with it. When you get a chance, I would love to see some pictures of it at work.

Think of it like a 3/4 ton truck VS. a 1 ton truck. Heavier duty springs & shocks, higher weight capacity, larger cooling system, etc... Yes, the oil pan gasket. They are notorious for leaking around the back of the engine near the rear main. Other then that, no problems that I know of.

| I don't think I've ever seen a 1970's Chevrolet C70 farm truck. Maybe that would have been a semi cab? Dad has Three C60's. A 1974, a 1975, and a 1977. the latter of which, is a 10 wheeler. They all have 26 or 28' dump beds on them.
I remember when I was sitting in the 1977 when I was about 8 I guess. The truck was sitting in the shop (just out of the weather, as the other farm he owns doesn't have extra storage for trucks, as most the peanut trailers are parked there) and I saw this shiny black switch. IIRC, It said " Main, and Aux." I flipped it to AUX, and it did nothing, so I lost interest and went around to one of the tractors and pretended to drive it. Of course, the next time dad went to start it....umm...Picture 30 years of crap, built up in a tank, going to the carb. Yeah..

| That's what I'd like to get for this maybe some day, is a wheel lift if the C70 could handle it. | |

| You know what the sad thing is? A truck with a bed as long as that (perhaps longer, it was a 21') picked up my Continental in Prince George, and it took us nearly 30 minutes to get it on, as the car was too long for the bed! Even after it was on, the rear end stuck out ~ 6 inches.. | |

That truck would handle a wheel lift no problem. I had mine on a 2000 dodge 4x4 dually ext cab but it was a repo, lightweight wheelift. If i was putting one on your truck, i'd get a good heavy duty one from vulcan or holmes. It could handle that no problem.

| A vulcan spoon lift is really nice because it doesnt require the arms to be put in. It has a spoon on a arm with holes in the bottom and the weight of the towed vehicle keeps the hole in the arm over a peg in the wheelift frame. | |

| I'd like to see pictures of a spoon lift, if you can find us some... I don't unstand what you looks like. I'm really likin the idea of a wheel lift now. I saw one on Kijiji and it even had a receiver hitch incorporated in it. The way it is.. this truck can't tow anything. | |

| The pics of the vulcan set up was actually on ebay. If you could find those parts that are pictured cheap enough, the t-bar is fairly simple to make. A double bank control valve, 2 cylinders for in-out and up-down, and a little bit of steel and you can fab it up with little problems. | |
