| COLUMBUS, Ind. -- Cummins has been given the EPA nod of approval for its heavy-duty and mid-range engines with selective catalytic reduction (SCR). The ISX15, ISB6.7, ISC8.3 and ISL9 engines have all been certified by the EPA, Cummins has announced. EPA2010 engines call for the near elimination of NOx emissions. “Receiving the formal certificates is an important step in the process as we enter 2010 with customer-ready products,” said Jim Kelly, president, Cummins Engine Business. “This confirms that customers can be confident in the technology choice we've made to meet the new, more stringent emissions standards.” Cummins claims its heavy-duty customers will achieve fuel savings of at least 5% when moving to the EPA2010 engines with SCR. Mid-range engines are expected to boast up to 3% better fuel mileage than today’s offerings. Later this year, Cummins will be introducing its new ISX11.9. http://www.trucknews.com/issues/ISArticle.asp?aid=1000354050 | |

| CAT quit making engines for road tractors because emissions regs were getting rediculous and they wouldnt be making enough money for it to be profitable. Cummins will be going the same way before to long. | |

| caterpillar ceased production of its over the road diesel truck engines, as of 2010..... they decided it wasnt worth the money to try and keep up with the epa emmission regulations..... they are focusing on the off road sector now... you know, gotta build a 400 short ton haul truck that will keep up with terex...... or that is what we have been told by our cat representative, as well as what they said at mine expo in 2008, in las vegas...... | |
