| Well, it's three separate cracks running together, and 2 of the three have about a 1/4" gap inbetween them. | |

| Not now, too dark. I'll try tomorrow, if I don't forget. Whenever I hit a pothole or bump on the right side, the truck feels like a fish out of water. Here is the truck as it sits now: | |

| you have a couple options..
you could try to jack the truck up where its cracked and bend it back together and then weld it shut and then put plates over that to streighten it.
you could get a new frame and drop whats good on your body onto it
just brace it up and use it as a farm/mud truck..
the third being my choice.. lol

| Well, I'm most likely going to sell it, and buy the '77. If I just let it be, it's going to break eventually, I assume. Wonder what it will look like then I may think about #1, or #3, I don't want the frame to break on whoever buys it. | |

| I agree, but I mean, there is a limit on how many vehicles I want to have. I don't want this place to look like a junkyard. I've already spend god knows how much just keeping it going, now the frame is damaged, steering is screwed up, and..the engine is acting up again. I think that's on it's way out as well. After that, then what? If I'm going to blow my money or something, it might as well be a vehicle I've always wanted. Heck, the reason I bought my new truck was so I'd still have a similar driving experience, plus a similar appearance, but on a vehicle thats reliable, and has half the mileage. I'll always have pics and memories. There's a time when you realize you need to let go, so you can move on. It's been interesting, though | |

Joe has it pretty much covered. If your going to keep it, the easiest and best option (IMO) is 1. But, once a frame is cracked or twisted, you will NEVER be able to get it perfectly straight again, so you may want option 2. I would not suggest option 3 in any way. One more thing you might consider is parting the truck out. You could make a lot more money that way then trying to sell the whole truck and then junk whatever is left over. Just a thought.

the third being my choice.. lol I agree with joe on this... Not much else you can do. I choose choice number 1 then choice number 3 and wheel it till it breaks if it does you've not really lost out on anything!! - 1993GMCSierra wrote:

I may think about #1, or #3, I don't want the frame to break on whoever buys it. Now will if you do fix the frame and sell it make darn sure that they know it's broke! You'll have a harder time selling it but it's better then not telling them and then they get into an accident and sue you because of it! Just my .02

| Thanks for the advice guys, I got back from the shop about a hour ago. I asked them if they wouldn't mind checking out the frame for me, to see how bad it really is, and a cost on repairing it ( as I don't have a welder ) I got even more bad news. I noticed, as I shut the door to give it to the guy, the door was rubbing slightly on the front quarterpanel. This was the drivers side, which was not impacted. I though, maybe something got shifted, and mentioned it. Well, the frame is bent and cracked near the center (as I told you) and, the front of the frame (front bumper to behind the rear tire area) is also bent, and slightly twisted. I checked out the passengers side of the truck (well, they showed me) and there is a gap between the door and the quartepanel on that side, where the quarterpanel is kind of pushed in and twisted, so it doesn't line up with the door. The panel isn't damaged, but the frame itself is. Because it's bent, and twisted, the quarterpanel on the drivers side is puled back slightly closer to the drivers door, and the door is slightly overlapping it. I forgot to ask about an alignment. It might be difficult to do, after that. They told me they could try and straighten, strenghten, and rebend the frame where it's bent/twisted/broken, but they said it's best to let it be, as the cost would outweigh the value of the truck. It's bent in at least 3 places, they said, the front is twisted slightly, the spot I posted about here is cracked, and one of the old welds dad did to fix it years ago broke near the rear, making it worse. These guys are quite reputable, and I know them all very well, and know they wouldnt' try to screw anyone over. I trust their judgement, and I agree with them. Not good. I'm contemplating on whether it's worth even trying to sell it. No one will want it with a messed up frame. | |

| honestly i would strip it and use whats good as spare parts for your other truck or sell them and make a profit.. the last truck i parted out i made 1200 bucks profit ad that was with a smashed front end and bent frame.. the bed in deceent shape goes for 3-400, the doors 100 a peice, bumpers 50, rims and tires 40 a peice, i can give you a good price that anyone would jump on cause i know what i would pay for it.. lol | |

| Well, we rent, so stripping is out of the question. All vehicles on the premises must be complete and running. I already talked to him about the '77, and he's good with it. The most thats going to have missing at a time is a few little parts, but not whole sections. | |
