this is just from one of the TDI forums I was looking at, they have a monthly fuel economy thread and most guys with the 2009-newer werent getting as good as mileage as the 1997-2003 cars Well yeah, I wasnt saying otherwise. I was only talking about the transmissions, not the emissions equipment. Both VW's website and the EPA website list the DSG & the Manual at the same ratings.

Maybe that guy I was talking to about 2000 or 2001 or so, not positive on the year, was really close to 50mpg. I oughta start shopping around for a used older TDI. I know this much, I had a neighbor with one of those old VW Rabbit front trucks. He got over 500,000 out of that dang thing before it finally just flat gave up. He was mad cuz he didn't get a million miles out of it. I remember the day he brought it home brand spankin new. He and his wife both drove it for over 15 years. And it was good on fuel way back then.

| Hey !!! Come to think of it, I was part of that club up until last summer when that drunk crossed over the yellow line and totaled my 05 V70R Volvo wagon. I kinda miss that car. Maybe my panel van will keep me as a Wagon club member by default LOL | |

| I dunno guys, I thought Mini Van was bad enough, but a Wagon??? I think that just might call for a vote to take away your man cards. LOL Althogh, I'd sure like to have an older mid 60's wagon, say a Nova or Chevelle wagon. I want to make a Wagon Sleeper race car. Or, I'd like to have an old Caddy Ambulance or Herse to cruis around in. | |

| My Jeep is also titled as a wagon.... for the record....LMAO....
As for the older models though, you have to be careful. With the new pending changes in the EPA and Emissions laws, those MAY not remain legal for long, instead they will carry a higher tax with them.... least this is what i gelaned fromt he latest press release....
So i think Robert has it right, the newer one was the better choice.

92 fullsize blazer 93 saturn sl2 85 c10 00 2dr jimmy 95 thunderbird supercoupe 02 grand cherokee
the last 2 are fixer uppers that i got for a good price but i am thinkin about keepin the supercoupe. it has a bad headgasket and i took it in as a trade from a freind of mine but after the ammount i just paid for all the parts it "needed" i am considering keeping it around. i must have bumped my head harder then i though last night.. lol

| You sound like me and Squarebody trucks. I currently have 7 Squares ranging in years of 81-88, and that's after getting rid of 3, and I also have my 93 E350 Box Van. Kinda crazy. I live by myself, and have 8 vehicles. Most are projects though, and only 3 are actually driveable. Its my hopes to get them consolidated soon, sell off some parts, scrap some parts and get down to 4 project squares, maybe even 3, cuz I want a K5 too. | |

| at one point i had 3 c/k10s but that was the most at one time.. i have had an 87 c10, 86 c10, 85 k10, 77 burban, 73 c10, and my current one the 85 c10. the township came down on me hard or else i would still have the 86 chop top, the 73 c10 and the one i still have. in a way its a good thing because then if i kept them all then none of them would have ever gotten done. i have a really bad habit of collecting and starting projects but then get overwhelmed with all of it and sell them all.. i think the one i have now is the longest i have ever held onto any car/truck i have owned. its been about 2 years this summer. the only reason its still around is because i love the color and i have alot of money tied into it. im into it right now for a little over 10 grand and i still have to finish the frame and rollcage and then start on the interior. im figuring i still need another 5k or so to finish it up. lol | |

| That's just ridiculous. Not everyone has Jay Leno's money and can afford a warehouse to park their rides. As long as they are safe, sound and sanitary, we ought to be left alone. I pay my darn tags every year, which mean I pay taxes to own those vehicles, so I should be left alone. Next time I think I'll tell code enforcement to lick my sack. | |

| What sucks for me, is my dads 160 acres is 70 miles east of me. So to pull my trailer one way and a truck there or back, it costs me $50 in gas. Needless to say, I don't get to work on those 2 trucks much at all, and when I do, its very little cuz the trucks are in a pasture away from his house so his wife don't pain. Then I rent a 25 x 32 shop for $200 month that is about 5 miles from my house. I pretty much just use that for storage though since I don't want to take all my tools up there. So my 88 Burb is there, along with all my motors, transmissions, rear ends, body and suspension parts. More like a warehouse than a shop since I can't do much there. I'd love to have 5-10 acres just outside city limits with a 30 x 40 shop and a house. | |

| i live in the burbs of philly but it isnt far from being philly.. my house in on about half an acre of land and when i look out my bedroom window i can clearly see into my neighbors houses on both sides.. i have just enough room to park 2 cars in the driveway but most of the time one is in the street and the other in the driveway.. the storage yard is about 2 miles away and its basically a small junkyard.. there are 4 boats, 3 jetskies, 2 bread trucks, a iroc camaro, 2 car trailers, a jeep in peices, an old dodge truck in peices, a chevy k1500 thats wrecked and a bunch of random lawn equipment.. my shop is huge but the township said that we can only have 4 cars parked outside at a time that arent tagged and registered. inside there is enought room to fit about 20 cars plus 2 lifts to work on them. if im not at home, the junkyard or plowing then im at the shop so im constantly shuffling cars from the yard to the shop or picking them up from peoples houses. | |

| Mine might be a half acre also. I am in a huge Cul De Sac lot. I am also in a Burb of OKC. OKC city limits is 3 miles from my front door. Same too, out my bedroom window, if no wind, I bet I could hit the neighbors bedroom window with a spit wad thru a straw. If I had to guess, 25 feet at the most. And that is lot really. Most of houses are 10 feet apart. 5 feet from the property line on each side. But cuz I am in the Cul De Sac of 5 houses, mine being the first one, then in circular pattern from there on, is why we have further distance between the houses. I complain cuz I feel I should be able to park my trucks, ATV's and 18ft tandem car trailer in the back yard without a problem. My trailer and ATV's are in the backyard and I haven't had a problem with that so far. Just the trucks. I sorta see the point, but jeez, lets be real. Its my yard, fenced in by a stockade privacy fence. The good part is though, IF I would install a concrete driveway going to the backyard, they would allow me to use and park vehicles back there. Just that as deep as my lot is, it would cost me about $6000 in concrete alone @ 8ft wide 4in deep. Also have a limit if I build a shop back there, it can not exceed 20% of the yard. But the yard is big enough, I can get by with a 30x40 building and not exceed the 20%. If I ever get rich and build the 30x40, the that means the driveway doesn't have to be as deep as either. Then I have a 15ft utility easement across the back fence that I can't build on. So, if I come off 15ft, start the building of 30 ft deep, I could still get 6 trucks in the backyard 2 trucks wide, 3 deep and that is still with the building empty, so I could put trucks in there too. So really, I don't have it that bad, if I can get rich and build my building and put in the concrete driveway all the way to the street on the side of the house. Just pisses me off, I bought the house for the large lot and backyard access, but can't use it. Oh well, as they say, life in the big city huh??? | |

NICE !!! Isn't it great when you get that kind of mileage and filling up doesn't even bother you??? Makes you just want to load up and go for a drive going nowhere.
