| Rub it in... No. They got traded in. Between the higher payment, the higher insurance, and the higher fuel bill, they where killing me. Plus with the little one coming I needed a back seat. | |

| Truth is, Cant get the TDI engine in the sedan without the sunroof. Sunroof takes off 2-3 inches off headroom, so my 6'2" frame BARELY fit in it. Wagon is much more room and comfortable. | |

| Its not 'fast' but it is peppy. I'm happy with its power level. That turbo can take care of business when the need calls. Yes, traded the Suburban in on the Malibu. Traded the Silverado in on the Jetta. | |

| I think the intervention is too late But we all can take a moment and have a minute of silence for our loss. All we can do now is start a raffle on when Robert is gonna buy a cheap fixer upper or even a cheap classic as a Sunday driver with all this money he is saving. (after the baby stuff is bought) | |

| The REAL question is..... How can a moderator/administrator of a T-R-U-C-K Forum be allowed to stay such after just letting all his TRUCKS go?!?! J/K buddy. Seriously though, those look good together. And you are supporting our troubled economy by helping the banks, enviroment and car companies, so I guess I will bow out and say, congrats. | |

| Thanks guys for the kind words, and the laughs. It wasnt easy saying goodbye to the Duramax, but I know she will make someone else happy and that I will have another some day. As for getting another 4X4, I have been day dreaming about buying the old 85' back.... | |

| I wouldn't rock the wagon, but I'd rock the TDI. Them bishes get awesome fuel mileage and have some gitty up too. You'll be loving the 45mpg. Let us know if you really get it. I had a buddy that bought an older VW Diesel, like a 2000 or 2002, somewhere in there, he was getting real close to 50mpg. | |

| from what I researched it seems the 2000-2001 5speed jettas get the best mileage, the newer ones can only get about 40mpg with regular driving, maybe a little better if you hypermile it, the added HP and dpf knock back the mileage, and if you have the DSG(direct shift gearbox) it lowers it as well | |

| I know his was a 5speed and I think it was a Jetta. Not positive. He swore he was getting almost 50mpg on a trip he drove OKC to Vegas. Maybe his odo was off, or he didn't know how to do math or calculate mpg. Even if 40, not bad. I had a 08 Yota Rolla for a couple years. The best I got in it, was from San Antonio, to OKC, I got 43.2 mpg and I know the odo was right, and I know how to calculate mpg. Of course I worked at it to get that. I set the criuse at 65mph, there was no wind to speak of at all that morning, and I left SA at 3am with no traffic. Seemed like it took me forever. Then going from OKC to Laughlin, NV at 80-110 mph I'd get 36 mpg. Normal around town was about 32, with AC on about 30. Also a 5 speed. I bought the car ONLY for the purpose of getting mpg and it was made in USA. Plenty of gitty up too in the 5 speed, the automatic, not so much. Had a buddy with an 05, same engiine, ignitions system and all, his mpg was about 2 mpg behind mine in both city and hwy, and we race from a light and mine beat the living dog snot out of his auto from the start all the way thru to the end. IF I had to guess, probably at least 6 car lengths if we raced a full 1/4. That is the only way I'd have a ricer or any 4cy for that matter is a manual trans. | |

What? "Cheap" and "Duramax" dont go in the same sentence. With a 6.2L, yeah, its loud and slow, but its cheap, reliable, and stupid easy to work on. | |

| I've heard the same about the 6.2. Cheap, easy to work on and can be reliable with good mpg. BUT, you can't drive it like you stole it. Take it easy on them and I guess then they are reliable. Also heard, upgrade the glow plug controller to a Dodge unit and that known problem is fixed, and then you just have to deal with the occasioanal injector pump taking a dump. | |

this is just from one of the TDI forums I was looking at, they have a monthly fuel economy thread and most guys with the 2009-newer weren't getting as good as mileage as the 1997-2003 cars but like i said, your car makes 40hp more, is running a DPF and is still breaking in, one car on the list is a 2010 with DSG and is getting almost 53mpg, the top car in their thread was a 2000 5-speed and got 60mpg+ your still getting 20+ more MPG than me, albeit with 200 less hp and 600 less tq, and a lot less weight
