| sounds like my chubby.. the 92 blazer get a full tune up every 30k cause it burns up the #5 and #7 spark plug and starts to miss really bad.. i just had to do it a few days ago.. an hour and 7 mins to do plugs, wires, cap, rotor, oil change, air cleaner and coil.. today i was replacing the battery cause it has been slowly dieing more and more each morning when i fire it up. 250 bucks that could have been used twards the kiddies christmas but getting to the shop everyday to make more money is more important.. lol | |

Sounds like you need valve guides on those two cylinders. Crank pressure is probably pushing oil past the valve and fouling your plugs. Just a thought.

I honestly have no idea about the cost. The truck is still under warranty for the glow plugs and glow plug controller so the dealership has foot the bill. They're not too bad to replace, very similar to the Powerstroke 7.3L.

Just a thought. probley but being that i rebuilt the motor 3 years ago im not to worried about it. it burns up the cap and rotor on the same cylinders so i really have no idea whats going on. not to big of a deal cause it is dependable

| Thanks Ryan. From what i'm told, the LB7 with CA emissions have a different 'tune' on the GP controller and are notorious for burning plugs. | |

| The construction company I worked for has an 07 Duramax also, Glenn and it already has about 90K miles and the only problem it's had is a fouled fuel filter. | |

| No worries Glenn. The problem is only on the LB7 trucks because their are two different 'versions' of the ECM. The LLY and up trucks all came the same (roughly) from the factory and the problem was rectified. | |

They're not too bad to replace, very similar to the Powerstroke 7.3L. One thing I like about my 7.3, no removing anything to change glow plugs. Only takes about 5 minutes for me to change one, i have a couple spares in the glove box. - Ryan_Crossman96 wrote:

| Im in the Same boat Glenn..... they can be had much cheaper than that, i had to buy a GP in a hurry so i picked one up at the stealer.... i just about pooped a brick when i found out they wanted $60/each!!!!! http://www.merchant-automotive.com/glowpluglbz.aspxnever ended up using the darn thing, guess i have a spare new one now, but i had mine out just recently when i did my headgaskets and they looks good, put some never seize back on the threads and put em back in, got 170k kms on the engine now little tidbit of info here, did you know that on LBZ/LMM trucks the fuel injector sprays directly onto the glowplug tip to help speed up warmup times and to help with cold starts? and that you have an intake heater grid as well? my truck warms up 2x faster than my cummins ever did with only intake heater grid..... you would think that something burning red hot being sprayed with fuel would be prone to failure.... doesnt seem to be the case | |
