PostSubject: i fail..   i fail.. EmptyAugust 29th 2009, 11:18 am

so last night i had to take a trip down to my camper down the shore cause its been about a month since me or my parents have been there and the weathers ben rough... i had to grab a few chairs and tables, margarita maker, and a shop vac for my buddies party as well.. i took my red truck cause i havent drivin it in aabout a week.. i had recently changed the rims on it cause i fried my rear tires so much that both of them where bald... i took the steelies off and put american racing classics on there from my yellow truck... wouldnt you know that one of my rear tires started to come off on my way back home.. luckely the truck is low enough that the wheel well held it on or else i was going for a major ride... i was so pissed at my self cause i didnt have a jack or a wrench... i found a guy with what i needed and luckely he had some lugs for me... i think someone tried to steal my rims or something cause i put them on with an impact gun and every other tire was tight as hell.. theose rims are coming off today cause the truck sat way to low with them... i destroyed my headers casue they shot sparks everytime i hit a bump... all in all it was a really bad night... it was raining to top it all off and i had a killer headache from the smell of exhuast in my truck... both my headers are completlyshaved off at the bottom..

i failed big time today... i am now in the searce for a 4l60e tranny for my jimmy... dunno what happened but i went to put it in drive and it just bucked really bad and i lost my overdrive and 3rd gear... if i manually shift it into 1st and 2nd it still drives but i can only go about 45-50 mph... all cause some little **** stole my 2000 dollar bicycle... i got that back though cause a freind of mines son regognized it and beat the kid up... he called me and told me where he was so i could come get it... people say bad things come in 3s so i hope my streak of bad luck is done....

well its going forward alright... the 99 blazer that i was gonna fix up and let the wife drive now became my donor truck... i said fudge it today and went for a ride in my jimmy... the truck came back on a flatbed with a blown rear and the tranny completly toasted... i guess from all the bucking it did a number on the rear... called up a buddy of mine that has a 6 inch lift for sale... im getting that since im gonna have the rear out of the truck anyways and its going higher and higher... the rear lift is just a flip kit since my truck is setup with leafs under the axle.... that or im going full tilt and doing a solid axle swap with some dana 30s off an older jeep cj... i can get the front crossmember for 80 bucks... then its just a matter of making the steering work... but for now the truck is off the road and getting blown apart...

The steering is a simple fix... go crossover!!! Get a GM 4" drop pitman arm the get about 4' of 1.00"x0.50"sidewall DOM and get a tie rod end off a 88-98 1500 standard thread and get a tie rod at the pitman arm off a 95 jeep grand cherokee with reverse thread and get the DOM tapped and get a flat top pass. knuckle and pick up a steering bar made out of 1/2" plate steel and get it drilled to match everything and then bolt it on and you've got adjustable cossover steering... As far as your brake lines go believe it or not OEM brake lines off a 88-98 2WD 1500 are long enough to allow 10" of lift before the become stretched and should bolt strait to your existing brake lines at the frame! The stock shock mounts will be good enough for a SAS shock unless you plan to run dual shock then a custom shock mount will have to be fabbed up... other then that you should be good to go as far as steering and braking are concerned!! Good luck Joe!

Rite on... the stock steering box won't work? My friend kirt had to swap a toyota steering box into his colorado it was a PITA to swap the metric braking compontents over to standard. But I was just trying to throw in some ideas for ya man!

Yeah 93 for our trucks the stock steering box is good enough for a crossover steering setup in a solid axled truck... However joe are you going to relocate you axles? Move the front axle forward an inch and move the rear axle back and inch or two so they sit equally between the fenders and also so you don't tear up the front of you rear fender well when your suspension cycles as it undoubtly will...
