FORT MILL, S.C. -- Western Star trucks will be available with the Cummins ISX15 with selective catalytic reduction (SCR), the truck maker confirmed.

The Cummins ISX15 complements the company's Detroit Diesel powertrain options. The ISX is available with 400 to 600 hp and 1,450 to 2,050 lb.-ft. of torque.

"Western Star customers face some of the toughest demands on the road and off, and we're pleased that we can offer a wide variety of engine solutions that match the durability and reliability of their Western Star trucks," said Mike Jackson, general manager for Western Star. "The Cummins ISX15 offers the same proven technology that our customers have come to expect."

Cummins has claimed its 2010 engines will deliver fuel economy improvements of 5% with its SCR exhaust aftertreatment emissions solution.

Western Star trucks can immediately be ordered with the ISX15 with horsepower ratings of less than 500 and beginning in July for higher horsepower configurations.
