| Ive gotta nice Alpine cd player stashed in my closet. should I take the fairly new tape player outta the 78 and cut my dash to put it in? theres nothing like some good music comin thru a tape player in some certain.....situations if you catch my drift but it would be cool to blast thru a mud hole while blarin some ACDC too. decisions, decisions | |

| If it's cassette, drop it. 1. They don't make cassettes anymore. They do, but no new music after probably 2000-2002 has been put on a cassette. Cassettes wear out, they break, they can squeak, and are often poor fidelity. However, one spot, where they will ALWAYS outshine a CD is here: "it would be cool to blast thru a mud hole while blaring"
If you blast through a mud hole, and the truck meets some resistance (equal to hitting a deep pot hole, or such) the tape will keep on playing, where...the CD won't. It'll skip.
But, CD's have much higher SQ, you can customize what you want to hear on them, etc. etc.
Plus, people won't go.."Eww.....a tape deck?" when youpull up.
Now, if you had a 8 track player installed, and swapped it out, I would slap you...

depends what brand.. my pioneers never skipped and my aiwa only skipped when my passenger door 'radomly' swung out and nailed a construction barrel.. aaahh those were the good ol' days hahahah anyway.. sony explodes seem to skip more often than any other brands.. i don't know about dual or any cheapies like that.. never had 1

| Dual is pathetic, so is Sony.
I'm a Pioneer man myself. I only use Pioneer, or Alpine decks.

| Stay with the times Cassettes are out Now CDs are in... Soon CDs will be obsolete. Soon ALL it's going to be MP3 and IPODs plug N play in your trucks (no skipping)
Catch up with the times.. Go CD

| what you really want to do is put that alpine cd player in with a ipod interface.. then you can control the song through the cd player.. or you could go the cheapy route and get some rca's that have a headphone jack on one end and hook it up to your aux port in the back.. some newer headunits have a port for the front where you can just hook up a dual headphone cable to it.. i went all out and molded a ipod dock into my center console and now i have an iphone so i have to redo it.. i love my audio and ipods dont skip so its is the prefered method while mudding.. lol | |
