| My 1995 GMC K2500, has a 4L80E transmission.
Its keeps going into limp home mode where i only have 2nd & Reverse . . . Spring is coming and i should prolly start getting ready to fix this pile of SCUM so i can have a tow rig that can't tow again . . .
I slam it down the floor it slam's through all 4 gears i let off the hammer it drops into second gear limp mode i shut the key off wait 5-15 seconds and restart the truck and it has all 4 gears again . . . what can cause it to malfunction and be reset by shutting off the ignition ?

| Mike, IIRC there is a control plug that connects to the side of the transmission case. These do have a tendency to come loose on older trucks. Check that first. | |

| My lousy engine soaked into my transmission . . . Check the transmission plug strip alrighty. I ain't paying a tranny shop $350-to hook a scanner to it, as it may NOT link there for telling them nothing yet they'll still charge me $350 . . . Mike | |

| Have you gotten any resolve on this issue yet??? It won't be a Throttle Valve cable on an any -E trans. Not the 4L60-E or the 4L80-E. They are non existant on computer contrlled models. Limp home mode is normally an Electronic failure of some sort. Occasionally you can have a hard part failure that can cause an electronic issue, but rare. I wouldn't pay $350 to get a scanner on it either. But can you by any chance get access to an OBD2 code reader and see if there are any codes stored? That should be able to be done fairly cheap. Keep in mind, a reader may not show any codes, and it may require a good scanner. I'd be buying my own good scanner before I'd pay someone else $350 to do it. | |

| That will sure do it. So did the replacement of the Solenoids resolve your other issues? The only 2nd and Reverse and Limp Home??? Dang, it feel wierd to be on a forum. I am such a loser, can't beleive I haven't been banned here yet too.
