New Management Changes for Mahindra's U.S. Distributor Empty
PostSubject: New Management Changes for Mahindra's U.S. Distributor   New Management Changes for Mahindra's U.S. Distributor EmptyDecember 20th 2009, 12:06 pm

Mahindra vehicle distributor Global Vehicles U.S.A. continues to make management changes before the arrival of the Indian automaker’s Scorpio platform TR20 and TR40 pickups in the U.S.

Larry Daniel, senior vice president for sales and marketing of GV-USA, has been replaced by Dan Najour, just seven months after joining the company. Daniel previously worked for General Motors, where he was responsible for managing the Southeast region marketing for the Buick, Pontiac and GMC divisions.

Najour now takes the role of executive vice president for sales and marketing. He comes to GV-USA with 30 years of automotive experience. Najour will oversee a field sales organization servicing more than 349 dealers and the work of the marketing department.

While the management shuffle at GV-USA isn’t expected to make any direct impact on the TR Series pickups, the launch of the pickups appears likely to slip further into 2010. According to a company source, production is set to begin late this month or in January, with the first trucks on sale by spring 2010.

In August, Pawan Goenka, Mahindra's president of automotive operations, said the first trucks would be built in December and on sale by February.

February is looking increasingly unlikely.

The Mahindra pickup will be offered in two cab configurations: a two-door regular cab and a four-door crew cab. The diesel-only truck will use a slightly modified version of Mahindra's mHawk 2.2-liter inline-four-cylinder diesel engine. It's expected to have fuel economy ratings as high as 30 mpg and 1.3-ton hauling capability. Pricing is expected to start around $22,000.
