| I have seen those commercials, but I don't get it... the car gets 230 miles to a gallon of gasonline, or is pure electric and average cost of ownership mathamatically works out to euqalling the cost of a gallon of gasoline after driving 230 miles on pure electricity? | |

| The average the basic cost to drive a certain distance (say 40 miles) then compare that cost in energy to what it would take to use the gasoline equivilant for the same distance. | |

| So.... it is an electric car... not a gasoline engine at all? now this makes more sense. | |

| I don't see how one can save I think it's a good car for tree huggers or for one that works at a electrical plant to where you can just plug in to a generator. | |

| If you go 40 miles or less a day. They estimate it will cost 40 cents a day to charge if you plug it in at home. Considering gasoline is around $2.60 a gallon, you can see where the savings come from.
When I plug my block heater in at home during the winter, it cost me roughly $1 an hour to have it on. So 40 cents a day is ridiculously cheap.

| But..... now take the cost of the vehicle itself.... average that payment over six years... then take the added cost of electricity and what little fuel it uses. when you total it out, it actually costs you MORE to own and operate then staying with the vehicle you have now. Even at 2.60 a gallon and a lower average mileage.... you are saving the 40+ thousand from the purchase.... in the long run, there is no savings.
Now, give it to me for free.... and I am ALL OVER IT! LMAO....

| Because individual circumstance vary so much, you cant say for certain there is no savings. If someone is in the market for a car and traded theres in for this, they could potentially save A LOT of money. Keep in mind, unless you pay cash, no matter what you buy your going to have payments. But I do agree, the price is high. | |
