| I was doing some more research on NEF and apparently all their guns are made in the USA, EXCEPT their pump guns! Freaking China! So, I'll probably pick up another Remington 870 or a Mossberg 500 Andrew, thats a nice looking gun! Barrel is too long for home defense purposes, but its nice none the less. Thanks! | |

| I'll agree with Doc, You can't go wrong with a Mossberg 500. I bought one in roughed up shape as far as the blue. It had gotten some moisture on it. I didn't want it for pretty, being that if I had to use it and snuff some thug, the cops would take it for evidence anyway. It had a long barrel on it. I used a tubing cutter and cut the barrel down to shortest legal size that Mossberg sells as an option which was 18.5in, and its a perfect cut. Hit it with a smooth file and cleaned up the cut a bit and it looks great for what I want it for. $50 for home defense and if the cops want to keep it after they haul off the stiff, then so be it. I'm not out much. You can find those used Mossberg 500's all over the place here. | |

| I've never heard of this brand before, but for the size, the money, and the nickel finish is a plus, and lightweight a woman can handle it, this would be a good one for home protection if its any good. http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/17013-55.html | |

Andrew, thats a nice looking gun! Barrel is too long for home defense purposes, but its nice none the less. Thanks! ya know you could get a spare barrel(dime a dozen) and cut it to the shell tube. not that You or I would ever do a thing like that. *edit oh and i just got my girl a 500 20 guage for her apartment, gotta cut that to legal size. i'll get a pic.

| I decided to pass on getting another shotgun and picked up a Ruger GP-100 in .357 Magnum. Figured that would work just as well for my needs. | |

- Yep, just like mine except mine is Blue. I wish I had gotten the Stainless instead. I bought mine new in 89. Also 4in Heavy Barrell. So mine is a GP141 and I have added the Hogue grips too. What a differnece that made. A totally differant gun after that. Yours will be a KGP141. K designating Stainless. GP100 series 40 designating 4 in barrel, and I think the 1 in 41 designates heavy barrel. Not all the GP100 series have the heavy barrel. You'll like it. I've never had a problem with mine other than broke the sight from a drop. Ruger replaced it for FREE when I called them to order it.
Holy Information! Thanks! Correct, the FA10 form says KGP141, but the barrel is stamped GP-100. But now that you said that it makes sense. So far, so good. Havent fired it yet but I am looking forward to it. Still got to sight it in as well, fun times!

- I was expecting a pic of a straw and a can of pees when you said run squirrels. I've never seen of those in real life that I recall. I like Ruger 10/22's. That's one of those, you either love it or hate it. I love'm. I have 3 or 4 10/22's. Honelsty, I think its, 4 don't even remember now. I know I have at least 2 that are OEM 22 in Stainless barrel and 2 with 18.5 Blue barrel, so yeah. 4 of them. Everyone gun collection needs a 10/22.
I did look at a few different 10/22's and I am a huge Ruger fan, but there is no comparison to the Savage. I am old school I guess, I like bolt actions, pump actions, revolvers, etc... Some day I will wake up to semi autos, but not today.

| I've got an old Remingotn bolt action single shot .22. A boring yet fun gun to shoot and pretty accurate with iron sights. My big bore centerfire rifles are bolts. I'd like to have a Marlin .444 or Marlin 30-30 336CS, Pistol Grip Lever action rifle. But, every gun collection needs at least 1 Ruger 10/22, especially if you like Ruger guns. The only drawback to them I know of, is you must use good ammo. IF you don't, it doesn't feed in the mag properly. Past that, sky is the limit for mods and accesories, very accurate and fun to shoot. Not a bad price either. As expensive as ammo is these days, I shoot the .22's more than I do the AK-47 and SKS now. Used to, AK-47 and SKS ammo was .10 cents a round. I think its about .15 now. Spraying 40 rounds at a time, gets expensive quick. So the .22 with the 50 round clip has to suffice. | |
