When I put my pyro in the other day, I turned up the injection pump about 1.5 maybe 2 flats. Man talk about a difference. Got my 0-60 time down to about 11 seconds from 16. Itll REALLY set ya back in the seat from take off too. I guess btwn the IP, soup bowl mod, and my exhaust I dun good. Just wait till I get my dual 3.5 inch exhaust put in. That f****rs gonna fly!! lol. I'm still running the stock 2.25 pipe to the 4 inch stack, but with no muffler.

Nice upgrade and info John. Just be careful turning up the pump screw, dont want the old beast to run away from you.

the fuel screw wont make it run away, but I have heard that if you bottom out the screw you can ruin the pump. 1.5 flats is about 1/3 of a full turn of the screw lol. Thanks for the advice though.

Well I'm going to say that they did help some. The more air in and out the better. And the turning the pump up dont hurt any if you drive it like normal. Course if you try to drive a 3ton truck like a sports car fuel mileage will take a hit. The power is there, but if i dont use it i get my usuall 21+ mpg.

I'd like to see ANY gas powered truck drop 6 seconds off their 0-60 time by adding an exhaust and turning a screw driver....

Thats a lap top, and no you didnt. According to Motortrend, a 03' Silverado 5.3L runs (depending on cab type and options) between 7.0 and 8.2 seconds to 60. That means you either have a truck that can be in 2 places at once, or are fibbing...

I don't think being able to add exhaust and turning a screwdriver to drop 6 seconds off the 0-60 is anything to brag about. Sure its impressive, but I think it shows more of how much a sled the diesels are off the assembly line, which means you buy a brand new vehicle and spend $4-$6K more on the thing from the lot, then have to go spend more money for the thing to be able to get out of its own way.
Can't say I hate diesels. I am just not very experienced enough with them. I'd be interested in the learning more about them though. I would like to someday, when I get rich, find a non computer cummings and put it in one my 81-86 Chevy bodies with an NV4500 and see what kind of mpg I'd get. But, I don't think I could ever be talked into buying a ANOTHER brand new diesel powered truck. I can't see spending $5K more to get a diesel powertrain, then pay .60 cents more a gallon for diesel fuel. If anyone has done the math, you must have to drive many many miles to see the payoff. Also, diesel maintencance is not as cheap and lack of maintenance on a diesel is not as forgiving. (So, I been told).

man you can do soooo much with a diesel motor with just a scantool thingy than ya can with a gasmotor in new trucks. the diesel tech guys at school showed us gas dudes one day.

you can unleash so much power on most new trucks with either gas or diesel motors.. they're so restricted it's not even funny

you have to remember, my truck is 16 years old with a shitton of miles, and no turbo. Also all they had to compete with was the 6.2 (joke) and the 5.9. I wouldnt call the new diesels sleds by any means.

Yup, he's a hick !!! I think its that hillbilly draw that made you think he said TV. But I think, as with most hicks, having a CB in their truck, I think he said CB. I seen the Mic hanging from the mirror. Now that's fast when you can knock over the CB !!! And, not bad at all for Non Turbo 7.3 with over 300,000 miles.
