here are my 2 'mud trucks'.. 79 bronco 'custom' and 94 sonoma.. the bronco i was going to part out, but being a diehard ford guy, i just couldn't do it.. the body was REALLY rough but the previous owner cut all the rot out before it spread. it pretty much needs new 1/4's. the floor was rotten pretty bad but the kid i bought it from started patching it up, i just need to finish it off. it already has a 3" body lift which i'm going to keep under it. the 400m runs strong and only has 84,xxx original miles on it, same with the C6 and NP205. main plans for this truck are a pair of D60's, 6" susp lift and 39.5x15 TSL's or 38.5 boggers. the front is going to be converted to coil because i hate lifted trucks with leafs in the front, they're too bouncy.

the sonoma, well thats a whole mess all on it's own. it's been off the road for going on 2 years now. i pretty much had to replace the whole fuel system because of sand. the sending unit seal basically fell to pieces and let all kinds of very fine sand into the tank, which passed through the fuel pump strainer and fuel filter and through the whole injection system, ruining everything. now i just have to replace the fuel pump and the motor will finally be done.

main plans for this are a pair of box bronco(66-77) rears (narrow D44 and narrow 9") and a decent set of 35's or 36's. just something i can take out on the trails and drive around all day and play in a little mud.

I used to be a fan of the GM "S" Series before I had all the issues I have had. My Blazer and now this darn s10 have just about killed me...LOL... nice bronco though, definitly a lot more potential there. And don't get me wrong, the s15 is sharp too.... LOL

79_bronco, I have to thank you, I no longer feel bad about the amount of rust on my 85'. Wow, good luck man. You've got some work ahead of you, definately worth it though. That truck has some potential. The Sonoma looks pretty cool. How did the sand get in the fuel system?

i beat the living hell out of the sonoma.. it held it's own so i kept it. i'm not really a fan of lifting a chevy but with a nice set of rears under the sonoma, it should be a pretty nice trail pig.. i don't really care about how it looks too much, i never wash my trucks so the mud hides all the uglyness hahahah Smile

hahah, it's already lived part of it's life as a mud truck, so that explains the excessive amount of rot it had. i'm thinking about just cutting the 1/4's off and replacing the whole thing. once i heard the motor fire up, i knew i had to keep it.

sand got in the fuel system because the seal on the sending unit deteriorated and pretty much fell to pieces. we used to go to a place called menatico ponds that's about 15 minutes away from my house. it's an old sand quary and the sand is very very fine, so once it got in the tank, it started it's way through the whole fuel system.. so far i'm about 900 bucks deep into fixing it, now i just have to replace the fuel pump so it stops blowing fuses when i put the pedal to the floor lol

well.. when i can't sleep, i search craigslist like it's my job lol.. well about 5 minutes ago, i found this ad that caught my interest.. it's for a 79 F250 and 75 F350, and it got my mind running hahah.. i could use the HD D44 and sterling 10.25 for my bronco and keep searching for another set of rears. my old 78 F250 had those exact rears with factory 4.10's and when i did research on them, they turned out to be pretty strong and the HD44 has better ground clearance than a front D60. plus, with a little bit of time and money, i could put the 2 trucks from cl together and sell them both off to put some money in my pocket. i'd hate to pick them up just to strip them of what i need, part them out and scrap the rest.. decent 70's ford trucks are getting harder and harder to come by

360 was also a ford FE motor.. little 'brother' to the 390.. waiting for a response from the guy. my buddy brian has a pretty decent little suzuki 160 quad runner he'd trade so he could make some extra cash as well lol

the sonoma has a new lease on life.. i got the rears off craigslist and a set of 38.5's that have decent tread.. all i've done so far is cut some of the brackets off the sonoma frame and cut the bronco frame to pieces
