I found this Differential Identification chart. Might be helpful to somebody.

I have a question tho.
If I was checkin out trucks in a wreckin yard... And say I was in the market for yaaa.. DANA 44 axle or a DANA 60 axle?
How would I identify them?
How can I tell them apart?
How can I tell it's even a DANA axle.

Your help would be greatly appreciated

You answered your own question. Cool If you look next to the differential cover, there will be a 2-3 digit number stamped in it, thats the model. Ie, 44 = Dana 44.

Thanks for sharing Glenn.

Not all 60s have kingpins...

Also a dana 44 will have ten bolts on the differential cover. Also a dana 44 is physically smaller then the 60 and a 30 and 35 have a narrower stance due to their use in heeps. Also the differential which we all know is just stamped steel is stamped differently on the 30 35 and 44. Also a 44 has an 8.5 ring gear and will have a 27 spline outer axle shaft verses the 60 which has a 30 spline shaft. A 44 will have a smaller I believe around 2.5 inch outer hub whereas the 60 has 4 inch outer hub... But rear axles are similar yet different in identifying
