I'll say.

THis has indeed tarnished Toyota's "perfect" image, but, for someone who despises foreign car companies, I have to give them credit for all they are doing to get people to fix the problem. Ford never did all of that on the Cruise Control recall. I simply got three letters saying to call my dealer and get it fixed. No TV spots, radio announcements, etc. At least that I saw.

And with the Cruise Control thing, the car could catch on fire even if it was turned off and parked.

This actually reminds me, I need to WD-40 the accelerator of my Continental, as it's a bit stiff. Smile

don't expect it to be nice and smooth like your truck.. the throttle springs on a carb make the pedal harder to push

Odd. Our old 1973 C10 truck's throttle was super easy to push. Just like any fuel injected vehicle.

Thanks for the info. Smile

must have had a light spring on it or the carb had a self return spring on it like a throttle body.. but old fords never really had a soft gas pedal like that, unless they had the throttle cable with the return spring built in.. you have a rod assembly, right?

yeah.. those rod assemblies SUCK.. you should look into doing a cable swap and using an 80's/90's pickup cable.. they have a spring built into the cable end.. nice and easy to mash it to the floor Twisted Evil
