| The TH884 LeRoi Gas V-8 297hp@2,600rpm & ???TQ@????RPM. The V-300 Cummins is a 785Ci V-8 NA diesel makes 300hp@3,000rpm & 900tq@2,000rpm. The VT370M Cummins is a 785Ci V-8 Turbo charged diesel makes 375hp@2,800rpm & 1150tq@1,600rpm. What I want to do is interchange them, which i think should be some what easy as they are the same engine. The 370 is a turbo charged version of the 300, neither of which have anything to do with the 300hp V903 Cummins. any known issues with interchanging the 2 engines ? Mike

| If the motor dimentions are the same, the motor mounts should be the same, so it 'should' bolt right it in. Is there something specific your concerned about? | |

| Turbo charger placement, i am not sure how the Turbo is mounted nor how it is plumbed into the system.
Plus i want to make sure they are interchangeable before entering into such a project.
I really should be asking if the VT370 is interchangeably with the 844 LeRoi V-8 Gas engine, as there is a bed less M125 down the rad i could get i think for a deal . . .
Tho the 785 Cummins was used to repower the 844 LeRoi . . .

| if you get the wiring harness and ecu for the new motor then everything else should be cake.. try to get a section of the downpipe on the new motor as well cause it will make fabing up the new exhuast sustem alot easier.. if the truck came with the new motor as an option then you should be able to find everything you need.. sounds like a fun project and i think youll be alright.. they are the same motor esentially beside the turbo and it can be mounted anywhere it will fit so i wouldnt worry to much about placement.. | |

I don't think you will run into any major issue with both engine however just keep in your mind the turbo verison will be little diffrent than standard engine set up.
The turbo will be at back of the engine valley so you will have to run the new exhaust pipe from the turbo.
As far for your cooling system if your exsting engine did not overheat you should be ok with it but with the turbo verison you may want to watch the water tempture little more closer to prevent any issue with it.
For everything else I am pretty sure it is the same.
You will feel the toqure will come on more early than non turbo verison
Merci,Marc | |

| if you buy the truck with a gas motor its probley gonna take a little more fab skills. mainly just moving your engine and tranny mounts but it can be done.. i have stuffed a 454 into a 79 firebird only to take it back out and mount an ls1 motor out of a vette in the same day.. the tranny mount is the hard part. even if you are able to keep the same tranny you still have to worry about having to move it forward or back and get your driveline angle right. | |

Mike MY POINT EXACTLY It's a Mack !!!! What's it not good for? Nothing. You can take your girl out dancing a couple of drinks then a movie. Then the next day move a house down the road and up a hill with it. | |
