It's got a 5.3L. It's for a friend, he isn't very mechanically inclined, and he asked me if I'd mind. Of course, I said yes, thinking of how easy it was on my '93 Sierra.....but upon inspecion, it's nothing like it.

How does one do this? I see where the coolant hose connects to the engine, but I don't see a way to remove the "nipple" it's attached to from the engine like on my 1993.

Help? Shocked

It is very similar to your 4.3L. Take off the plastic 'vortec' cover. Disconnect the upper radiator hose, remove the thermostat housing and voila`!

I found it.....it's not on top of the engine...it's where the A.I.R. pump would be on my old truck. What a brilliant design there. I've gotta remove the air intake, fan shroud, and a few other things to get to it.

Why change a good thing?? Seriously, on my truck, it takes all of 5 minutes to replace one.

Sheesh. Rolling Eyes

Thanks guys.
