looks to be a 305 tpi with a cold air intake..

Yes that is an L98. The 350 and the 305 look identical from the outside except for casting numbers, however that is a true Formula350 with the stock L98 but has been converted from the 700R4 Auto to a T-5 manual trans. The L98 was not available with a 5spd because of the torque of the L98. Let me say.. it its FUN to drive.

No worries, alot of people question me when I say its a Formula 350 with a 5-spd. Because that particular combo didn't exist from the factory. When I was looking for a car my only requirement was that it was a L98 car. It was my DD for several years. The auto started to have problems and I had a friend with a complete donor car. We did some trading and I ended up trading an old 86 TA I had complete with yet another bad 700R4 in return for his labor and parts. I of course helped with the swap but he did most of the work. (he's a mechanic by trade). Log story short I got the car I always wanted but could never find because GM couldn't warranty it. It wasn't until the Lt1 and T56 Combo in 93 that you could get a 350 with a manual trans. Needless to say I've beat the piss out of that car and that T-5 still takes a licking. Broken a few rear shocks, a Torque arm mount, and alot of tires, but the Transmission hasn't missed a beat. Added a manual console from a 94 TA and a Hurst short throw shifter later on and I couldn't be happier with it.

Thanks guys, I know the car still need lots of work but thats half the fun is doing the work yourself. The other half is driving it inbetween periods of work..

Man I wish I could say the same!! All I'm doing right now is working on my truck because I'm waiting for a 700r4 to get rebuilt but I think it's gonna end up turning into a fist fight before it's all over with!

Well I've met some tough people before but if you can win a fist fight with your truck I'll grant you the toughest man award.. LOL

give the tranny guy a shot for me cause they charge to much.. haha.. im in about 600 bucks for mine so far.. but it will support 800 hp and a freind of a freind is doing it... tranny is already ripped apart and the new kevlar bands are in and a beefed up sun shell.. just waiting on a b&m shift kit that i finally got enough money to order today..

Must be nice that tranny guy has had mine for about well since about the 4th of july to have it rebuilt for the 2nd time and I went there on friday and they only thing that had been touched what the front pump!! I'm like WTF!!

i have good friends.. plus i apperenty worked with the guy and he knows my truck... i pleaded my case to him and he said he would help me out.. after i looked at the diagrame for the 4l60e i said... HELL NO.. and went for a pro.. plus i didnt know what as out there as far as upgrades.. basically im paying for new parts and he is doing the labor for free but i have to spread the word when it all goes back together and hits the trails.. lol

Oh yeah for sure man I hear how that goes... That's supposed to be how my situation goes but he's takening for ever to get off his butt!!

Yeah I guess so man!! lol I wish I had the know how to do it myself!! I was watchiong overhauled the other day a they had this top notch tranny guy built a tranny blindfolded and the darn thing worked great!!!!
