oh its just a peg leg for now... im gonna getto prostreet it and put 31x18.50 tires in the rear... i just have to relocate my shackles and hangers inside my frame rails... and since it already has the flip kit on the rear i dont need to buy anything... just got to send my rear rims out to be widened 8 inches... total cost should be around 900 bucks and thats with getting a posi carrier

turbo 400 and a 2.73 rear... lol... i get around 15mpg with that setup... the 454 is punched out .30 over, i beleive there edelbrock heads, and a edelbrock intake with a 850 double pumper carb... i can honestly say i have had it going over 150 mph on the pa turnpike... my gps stoped at 147 mph and i was only at 3500 rpm and still pulling hard... the thing handles like a dream at 100mph... lol.. i get a slight pull to the left when i hit the brakes though... i still got to check that out... i know it needs pads and rotors so im gonna be doing that this week or next... then it should be set...

10 bolt i beleive... it didnt come with a 454 from the factory... it was a v6 truck from what the build sheet says...

I thought so. I was pretty sure you had to have a 20 or 30 series to get the 454 from the factory. So its got a 10-bolt huh? Those are strong axles, but I would start saving. If its factory its a ticking time bomb.

im pretty sure its factory cause why would someone go through all the trouble to build the motor the way it is and then just replace the rear with a peg leg... i do plan on upgrading shortly like i said... maybe with a narrowed 9inch this way i can run some deep dish drag rims but im gonna do the getto prostreet first to get the mounting locations...

Sounds like a plan man. Dont get me wrong, the 8.5 is a stout piece, and I have the same axle (but with a gov lock) in my 97'. But it wasnt made for a 454. If you bought a factory 454 the smallest rear end the truck would have is a 12-bolt.

Your right. In the 60s and 70s they did, they made the switch to the 8.8 in the mid 70s.

The evolution of the Mustang rear end... the newer ones have a fully independant rear end... right? Or did I just read a review on a modified one?
