i have a 2000 F150 with 100k on it and the drivers side of the engine has what sounds like an exhaust leak. Does anyone know if these engines are bad for loosing exhaust manifold gaskets? It sounds like its only on the drivers side. Thoughts?

also, I forgot to mention that the tick is alot louder when the truck is cold, but it is always there no matter how warm the engine gets. It get louder on acceleration and cant be heard at all when coasting in gear. When cruising at a steady speed you can faintly hear it.

I know the 5.4L engines were notorious for warped manifolds and leaking gaskets. Pretty sure the 4.2L used the same design gaskets and manifolds. My guess, its one of those. If you start the engine up cold, can you see or feel a leak?

they do have issues with manifold gaskets.. from what im told the bolts are to blame. i would put some ARP's on there to fix the problem for good because if you use the same bolts they are just gonna give you another problem shortly.. every ford manifold bolts i have messed with are usually stretched in the middle causing a weak link. when you go to torque them down they snap and then you have another headache on your hands..
