- Lube all locks with LockEase – and if you ALWAYS use the remote to unlock your truck, be sure to run some lubricant on a key in and out of each lock a few times & make sure they turn too! Like anything you don’t use frequently, locks tend to get sticky, rusty or dirty, and may not work when you need them. Make a habit of using your key at least once a month to ensure you can get in if the remote doesn't work.
- Treat the weather stripping with a silicone product or dielectric grease (GM Part No. U.S. 12371287; Canada 10953437) to protect from freezing rains that tend to cement the weather stripping together and prevents you from opening the door. First clean & dry weather stripping, then apply a small amount of product and rub it in. You can get a small tube of Permatex Dielectric Grease (1/3 oz) at chain auto parts stores - it is only a couple bucks and one tube will do an extended cab or crew cab truck.
- Lube the door hinges, the hood and tail gate latch mechanisms
- Lube the spare tire mechanism. When was the last time you took down the spare? Would you be able to do it some night in the dark and freezing rain?
- Check your spare tire pressure
- Fill windshield washer fluid with good quality anti-freeze formula
- Telescoping window scraper & brush. Can you reach the entire windshield?
- Put a good coat of wax on the paint & bright surfaces.
- Clean the inside of your windshield – to reduce vision issues caused by plastic vapor residue that combines with moisture (breath) condensation.
- Install a set of winter wiper blades.

| Great advice Glenn! On top of these, please, everyone, change your fuel filter! Even gasoline engines hate pushing cold fuel so a clogged filter makes it that much worse! | |
