| first off i would start with a good tune up and have the carb rebuilt.. then for the water pump its really easy to replace with a few hand tools and a couple hours work.. that would probley fix both your problems since you dont really know the history of your truck.. | |

| Yeah a new water pump which for your truck will cost about 20 buck with a 5 dollar core... A good tune up and a coolant change. After that if your still expirencing your truck stalling then have your alternator tested. Because a bad alt. will sometimes cause that. | |

| yeah thats a miss.. you need new sparkplugs, wires and a cap and rotor.. once you replace that stuff if it still does it then its time to get it looked at by a shop so they can set the timing and adjust the carb if need be.. | |

| If the motor seems to "dance" "shake" under the hood alittle when idling I'd be willing to bet your timing is off by a few degrees. I'd check the lock nut under the distributor make sure the the dizzy isn't turning. If it's loose the give it a very slight turn clockwise to advance timing or counter clockwise to retard the timing. That combined with a good tune up will probably make that thing run sweet... I'd do plugs, wires, cap, rotor, oil change, a good carb rebuild, and a new air filter. I'd do a sea foam treatment to the intake just for good measure. | |

| do the tune up first and see what it does.. no sense in getting into rebuilding your carb if you dont need to.. | |

Agreed. Take it one thing at a time. Dont want to spend money if you dont have too. | |
