I have a 1997 chevy with a vortec 5.7 it does not have the cats on it. It runs rich. Showing on both banks. Hard to start less you give it a little gas.

i cheap fix would be to buy cat simulators to bring your fuel levels down.. they run about 30-40 bucks a peice and accually work.. ill find the website and post it in a min where i got mine for the turbo eclipse project..

http://bigdaddiesgarage.com/mini-cat-cel-fix.html is the site.. i have also read that if you find a few bolts that match your o2 threads then you can weld them to your exhuast or if you plug up the holes and wrap you o2 in tin foil and hose clap it somewere to your body/frame.... there are a million cheats... just gotta find the one that works for you

You may have a problem with the cooling temp. sensor.If they go bad they usually read -40 degrees and the computer adds fuel to compinsate for the cold condition. Also if the 02 sensor geos out they will go to the lean side and the computer will pour the fuel on to compinsate for the lean condition.I hope you`ve already found the problem but if not maybe this will help.
